Townsend-Lucius engagement

  • Reverend Alfred Tyrone Townsend and Dr. Irma Ward Townsend of Enterprise, Alabama are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Lydia Rochelle Townsend, to Mr. Garron Nickolas Lucius, son of Mr. Richard August Lucius and Mrs. Cynthia Theresa Lucius of Flushing, Michigan.

    The bride-elect is a 2008 graduate of Enterprise High School. Miss Townsend graduated from Auburn University in 2012. While attending Auburn, Miss Townsend was a scholarship student-athlete on the Varsity Women’s Soccer team where she helped lead the Tigers to four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and an SEC Tournament Championship in 2011. Miss Townsend earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio, Television, and Film with a minor in English. She then completed graduate studies at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law where she obtained her Juris Doctor degree. Miss Townsend currently resides in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and she is preparing to take the bar.

    The groom-elect is a 2009 graduate of Grand Valley State University. While attending Grand Valley, Mr. Lucius competed as a member of the Varsity Track and Field team where he became a two-time NCAA All-American and a four-time GLIAC Conference Champion in the high hurdles. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in K-12 Professional Instruction. Mr. Lucius then completed graduate studies at the University of West Florida where he earned a Master of Education degree in College Student Personnel Administration. He is employed at Grand Valley State University where he serves as the Assistant Athletic Director of Game and Event Operations.

    An evening wedding is planned for Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Enterprise, Alabama with a reception to follow at the Enterprise Civic Center.
